The multiplex cultural facility has seven halls of various sizes, including 5,000 seat Hall A, an exhibition hall, and 34 conference rooms. The facility also has a glass hall featuring a spaceship-like structure suspended in an immense atrium and a 7.5 meter wide light floor that traverses the site. The lighting design has been singled out as an example of dynamic and comfortable architectural lighting that moves beyond the overbearing illumination typical of most public lighting.
From schematic design to final completion, the lighting design took six-and-a-half years. Especially noteworthy is the glass hall lighting, which has added a new icon to the Tokyo nightscape by illuminating only the unique structure suspended within it with pinpoint lighting from narrow angle spotlights.
