This members-only club site in a quite, tree-lined neighborhood. Given the neighborhood’s character, the building needed an exterior that is not stand-offish and in harmony with the surroundings. With the comfort of guests inside the building in mind, the glass façade and face of the building that at first glance appears to be illuminated by light from inside is in fact lit-up from outside. For the benefit of passersby, considerable ingenuity went into details that hide fixtures and eliminate reflection in glass while also bathing the street in soft light.
The façade becomes increasingly transparent the higher up it goes thanks to well-balanced interior and exterior light, an effect that both provides a veil for the activity inside and creates an elegant exterior.
