This is a multi-purpose facility newly built at the intersection of Eitai Dori and Daimyo Koji in Tokyo’s Otemachi district. The black clad exterior of the Otemachi Tower is given extra gravity with a distinctive slit light and ambient lighting at the summit. Lighting highlights the abundant natural greenery of “Otemachi Forest”, the natural woodland recreated at the foot of the tower, and functions as a device for making the greenery’s presence felt among the people going back and forth inside “Otemori” atrium. Every night at 8pm, the forest is illuminated for 30 minutes by a xenon searchlight mounted on top of the tower, about 200-meters above ground.
