BUNRAKU THEATER of Seiwa Village, Kumano Prefecture was constructed as a base for handing down
the village’s traditional Shinto rituals and performing arts and to revitalize the village. The building is characterized by its coarse wooden frame structure called lamella beams, which clearly embody the architect’s design intention to build a “theater in a field”. To emphasize the dynamic movement of the structural construction by lighting, careful conducted to find on-site studies were solution. In a simple and good repeated experiments, we persisted on the use of ordinary lamps and mogulsattached to the beams for the simple form.
