This all-weather, multi-purpose dome built in snowy Hokkaido has a light exterior reminiscent of a sailboat’s billowing sail. The distinctive building form visible inside the immense arena is illuminated even when no events are taking place so that the crowds of people visiting the Dome’s observation deck and arena restaurant can enjoy the atmosphere. In contrast to the arena’s high-energy sports lighting, the concourse is bathed in soft ambient light originating from uplighting behind the steps, creating a place where people can gather and relax during events.
