A vision for a beautiful nightscape ten years from now has been planned that will create a “hustle and bustle area,” “historic area,” and “gate area” for three areas encompassing a total distance of 23.5 kilometers along the Sumidagawa River. We worked out measures for harmonizing glare with the surrounding darkness for all three areas and developed a practical plan that secures both choreographed lighting and the functional lighting needed for public safety. These landscapes also take the view from the opposite shore into account and field experiments were performed for some sections.
