The aim of this museum was to whisk visitors away to the era of Peranakan, complete with the warmth of that lifestyle. The gallery space is arranged so visitors seem like they are walking from room to room in a period-style house. The lighting continually changes over the span of each day to help create signs of the presence of people living in the house. Some areas have motion sensors for the preservation of the works of fine art and to create intentional changes in the level of brightness.
