The restoration project for the old Singapore History Museum transformed the building into the new National Museum. The new museum combines the colonial-style Old Building and the glass architecture of the New Building, which also partially encloses a section of the Old Building. This experiment in preserving old architecture while adding something new to the cityscape embodies the character of a museum. We decided to highlight the contrast between the old and new façades with layered light. The lighting creates a striking scene by elegantly blending the classical solemnity of the stone structure with the modern lightness of the glass building.
