This multi-purpose public facility is located in the center of Gifu City. Conceived as a center for community “knowledge, culture, and ties”, the facility includes a central library, community activities exchange center, and exhibition gallery. The library enclosed by a soft, undulating wood roof and latticework walls utilizes to the fullest solar, wind, and other natural energy sources and is designed to harmonise with the lush forest planned around it. Low colour temperatures and pleasant shadow create a tranquil and composed space reminiscent of deep forest living. Facility visitors are warmly greeted by a light environment amid a peaceful ambience imbued with nature’s presence.
