Client : Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore
We were commissioned by the Singapore government’s Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) to develop a 30 years lighting master plan and lighting guidelines for Singapore City Centre. The City Centre consists of five major districts: Orchard, Bugis, Singapore River, the Central Business District (CBD), and Downtown at Marina Bay.
Urban lighting in Asia at the time of the project was invariably conceived along Western lines, but our emphasis was on distinctive urban lighting for this unique city. We felt that Singapore’s nightscape and urban lighting should be heavily tinged with climate, history, ethnicity, culture, and other qualities that make it an exceptional city.
