The Kyoto State Guest House, a Japanese-style guest house, has been built in Japan’s ancient capital of Kyoto. Welcoming foreign dignitaries to the State Guest House built in the city symbolizing Japan’s history and culture serves to deepen their understanding of Japan and to build stronger relationships with other nations. The State Guest House located in the Kyoto Gyoen National Garden is a one-story building which surrounds a Japanese garden. It includes a VIP room, conference room, Japanese-style banquet room, reception hall, and tea rooms. The lighting design is particularly focused on gradations of light and shadow. Accomplishing the interior’s infinite gradation of light and shadow required substantial time and effort.
