Hotel Sensui 2019

Renovation of the public area and three types of guest rooms at a 50 year old Japanese style hot spring inn in central Kinosaki, Hyogo Prefecture.  Beautiful timber, plastered walls and vaulted ceilings were all replicated in the renovation and the lighting design aims to create a rhythm of soft lighting to wrap the space. For dimming purposes, electrical circuits in all custom-made pendants are divided between top and bottom.  When daylight shifts between bright and dim light, a special light room is available to adjust lighting effects.  These are just some of the technological tools with very subtle mechanisms, incorporated to help create comfortable spaces in the project.
