Niseko is famous as a resort destination blessed with some of the finest powder snow in the world. This 499 room hotel named after the region reopened after a major renovation. Our lighting concept for this hotel surrounded by the great outdoors uses warm-textured materials and balanced light and shadow to express the rhythm of nature.
In the lobby, we made use of existing columns and fire from the suspended fireplace in the center of the room to create a space symbolizing the spirit of the resort hotel. The rhythmical arrangement of light and shadow steers attention to the center and creates a circular layer of light.
