This picture book art museum was built on the site occupied by the home of picture book artist Chihiro Iwasaki during the artist’s lifetime. Located in a tropical high-density segmented into four blocks and linked together by corridors.
Crucial to this layout is “a comfortable inward line-of-view” centered on the courtyard, where several lines of view cross one another. Light concentrated on the walls along the border of the site guide a person’s gaze from the courtyard to the inside of the buildings. A light environment appointed with soft, low-color temperature lighting creates a relaxing art museum experience.
