Aman New Delhi was the first city hotel of the Aman Resorts luxury hotel chain. The interior of this ten-floor, one-underground floor tower style building is memorable for a design that adapts the traditional sunshade screens called jaali to a contemporary setting.
During the day, the intense sunlight casts beautiful jaali shadow upon the walls, while at night, the glow of incandescent light radiating from the rooms highlight their silhouettes so that they completely reverse form as the day passes. Covering open sections with jaali from the bottom floor to the top creates modern architecture around a traditional motif.
