Kaoru Mende + LPA Exhibition “A Manner in Architectural Lighting Design”(1999)
Venue
TOTO GALLERY-MA
Outline
We presented an architectural lighting exhibition over a two month period at the invitation of a gallery well-known for its exhibits on architectural design. Three different exhibit rooms presented the nature of lighting design and the working environment of the lighting designer.
Contents
Room 1 employed 1,200 optical fibers to create a changing, experiential space.
Room 2 was an outdoor terrace accessed from Room 1 with aluminum electropolished optical reflection mirrors laid out on the floor.
Room 3 completely changed the pace with an introduction to the work of lighting design. This exhibit featured 12 video monitors, architectural lighting models, lighting fixtures that demonstrate optical techniques, and a variety of sketches and drawings.
